Weekend Getaway: Part One

My friend and I were looking for the perfect time to go visit our Boston acquaintances, little did we know, we picked the best weekend! Autumn was underway and the leaves were as bright as ever. I began my trip Thursday by taking the Metro-North from Grand Central to the last stop, Poughkeepsie. This is where I met my friend and we began our journey north.

Here’s some shots of the Hudson River when roaming around Poughkeepsie

coloredlaces

A pair of colored shoelace is a fun, cheap way to change the look of your boring old shoes. These can be bought for under ten dollars and easily be installed to ‘trendy-up’ those everyday office shoes. With the Fall season usually turning most peoples wardrobes into rusty browns and grays, these laces allow the possibility of color without looking like your awaiting Spring.

Up and Coming – No BullShit Leading Man, Scott Eastwood

Profile: Scott Eastwood

Keep your eyes out for up and coming actor, Scott Eastwood. He made his film debut in 2006 starring in Flags of our Fathers, directed by his father, Clint Eastwood. Determined to make it on his own, Scott Eastwood didn’t want to use his fathers success to boost him into child stardom. He found pride in making his own success. “I want to be a man’s man – not some glitzy pop star but a no-bullshit leading man” he told Town & Country earlier this year. For Eastwood, the future looks bright. He couldn’t be any more inline with his goals. With various roles in upcoming films such as; The Perfect Wave, Dawn Patrol and Fury. These roles have Eastwood acting along side big names such as Shia LaBeouf and Brad Pitt. With much in store, it will be quite interesting to see if Mr. Eastwood can prove to us that he is a “no-bullshit leading man.”

Weekend Getaway: The Beach

Image

NEW YORK: Looking to get out of the City for a Saturday? New York has a few hidden beaches on the East side of The Bronx, just a quick cab ride away! A nice way to get a break from the chaotic city, and get a breathe of the fresh, crisp air. The best part about it, its FREE! The only cost is your transportation, which you can make very minimal by taking the red or green line subway all the way to the last stop and grabbing a five dollar cab from there.

Looking for a longer stay? Head up to Connecticut on the Metro North from Grand Central. Only takes a few hours and their are plenty of boutique hotels awaiting your arrival.

For all New York outsiders, take a look and see where your closest beach is. Im sure it will be worth the one or two hour drive. Pack a picnic and bring a book. Fun awaits! (Don’t miss your opportunity before the weather turns!) Don’t have the time to head to the beach, go out to your neighborhood park!

Have you taken a Saturday trip to the beach?

Weekend in the City: Central Park Stroll

Image

A few of my family and friends came in last weekend and like usual, we spent way to much time deciding what to do. As all my guest have already seen the ‘tourist-y’ areas of New York, we thought it would be fun to explore Central Park given that the weather was so nice. Immediately turning to my trusty pal, Groupon, we found a cheap bike rental right place on Central Park South. Off we go! Next thing we know we traveled around the entire park. Up the east side, passing the boat pond where the small remote controlled boat races take place. Continuing past the Kennedy Reservoir and baseball diamonds packed with children. Next thing you know we are riding Central Park North, and down the Upper West Side, passing the pond with the row boats and eventually making our way to Columbus Cr where we completed our Central Park tour. After my guests getting a good feel for Central Park like they never had before they decided that on the next visit they would try the row boats!

Gone Fishin’

A few weeks ago we went on a fishing charter in Upstate New York. The sun was shining with only slight gusts of wind, providing the perfect fishing weather. Here’s a few shots from our trip:

In the mood to go fishing with a group of friends and have a fun and relaxing time? I definitely recommend booking a charter boat; with a experienced captain that knows his way around the lake, as well as a crew that is on staff to handle all the dirty work for you. Great idea for a weekend getaway!

Have you taken a fishing charter before?
